Shiatsu
is a traditional Japanese healing art, a physical therapy which
supports and strengthens the body's natural ability to heal and
balance itself. It works on the whole person, both the physical and
emotional.
It
is based on traditional Chinese medicine, using the same theory, points
and channels as Acupuncture with influences from recent Western
therapies. However, no needles are used, making Shiatsu the perfect alternative to Acupuncture.
Shiatsu
means 'finger pressure' in Japanese. The practitioner uses touch,
comfortable pressure, massage and soft manipulative techniques which
adjust the body's physical structure and balance its energy flow.
A
deeply relaxing experience, regular treatments can alleviate stress and
illness and maintain health and well-being. It can help in a wide range
of conditions, from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor
health.
Shiatsu
takes place on a padded mat at floor level, although it is possible to
receive Shiatsu whilst seated.
You remain fully clothed at all times.
